Initial Session | $250/hr
following sessions: 4 Hour Package | $600 || 9 Hour Package | $1350
In order to ensure our clients meet their goals with their dog, we suggest the quantity of sessions that would likely be needed. Each session can range from 30 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the case. However, we don't want to over work your dog or use package time unnecessarily so time used is deducted from your package as we go; a 4 hour package may be 3 sessions or more than 4 sessions. Package commitment is required at the time of further booking after the initial consult. Select cases may not require a package.
additional travel cost/session: under 30min no cost, 30-60min $15, 1hr $30, 2hr+ $60+

In training, we consider all aspects of you and your dog's lives when evaluating behavior concerns and developing training plans. Our training includes not only clear instruction for effective behavior change and development; we also incorporate meaningful enrichment, appropriate exercise, and stress management in every training plan for optimization.
We strategically use food and toys to reinforce behavior*. Our training is creative and splits behaviors down to a level your dog can efficiently learn and grow from. Beyond the Walk’s training is tailored to each client's specific desires in training methods and goals. We are passionate about continuing our education in the most up to date, progressive practices in the training and husbandry fields. We are excited to help you and your dog excel!
Beyond's trainers' own dogs have achieved and surpassed so many goals including overcoming multi-faceted behavior challenges. Regardless of your dog’s origin, whether from a rescue or a breeder, we are happy to discuss your training goals. Diane’s dogs have earned titles in AKC Trick Dog, Canine Good Citizen, and Therapy Dog. To explore Diane's dogs' click the group picture! To learn more about our team, click the link below.
*Our approach to behavior concerns follows the flow of:
1. Medical/Wellness
2. Lifestyle/Enrichment
3. Management
4. Positive Reinforcement
5. Negative Punishment
6. Reevaluate behavior concerns and goals; possibly advise a consultation with a behavior veterinarian
Some to most dogs' training plans will not go beyond this point. Beyond the Walk may consider aversive tools (prong or electronic training collar) ONLY for specific training situations. We consider the dogs' overall risk, realistic goals, cognitive ability, and potential for psychological fallout before making any recommendations to move to other training methods beyond this point. We are also happy to never include the following methods in training and simply work with the previous 6 steps. We never implore a client to use aversive training though we may explain that with a client's goals and timeline, the options may be to either reduce expectations/increase timeline or incorporate aversive training for some behaviors (with limits).
7. Negative Reinforcement
8. Positive Punishment
We understand that dogs and clients live in the real world with real world behavior complications. While all behaviors can be taught with treats and toys and a client's training plan can include exclusively positive reinforcement methods, our over arching mission is to successfully achieve clients' goals with their dogs with the responsible use of any training method used. After thorough conversation with a client, if it is determined that the use of a prong or electronic training collar would aid a client in their particular situation, we will include such tools in the training plan with owner consent.
