Exercise, Rest, & Enrichment | A unique boarding experience

About Our Care

Your dog's happiness and safety are our first priorities. Our care has been thoughtfully designed to minimize stress and maximize comfort through exercise, rest, and enrichment as well as compassionate management of each dog's behavioral needs.

Each dog is provided many daily sessions in our securely fenced quarter acre yard for play, exercise, and elimination and are given run of our home during their sessions for a truly at-home feel. Our play groups are carefully selected for safety and designed to match dogs that thrive together.

Crate/kennel time is loaded with enrichment through food and puzzle toys, owner approved chew items, and calming music psychoacoustically composed specifically for dogs. It is our pleasure to care for your dog.

Beyond's Team

Diane Orenchuk, CPDT-KA | Beyond's Owner/Operator

I began my career in retail management and progressed to corporate retail in store operations. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the Anisfield School of Business at Ramapo College of NJ. I changed career paths to align with my love for animals and worked in shelter management for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) for over a year. I earned the certificate of CPDT-KA from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers in 2017. I worked as a dog trainer with a dog training school for over a year. I have worked with a vast variety of dogs for over 8 years through shelter care, foster, daycare and boarding, and training. I have education in and experience with fearful, high arousal/energy, resource guarding, aggression, and dog selective behaviors.

My education is rooted in the expansive, scientifically documented benefits and effectiveness of reward training. In training and boarding, I use food, toys, and other rewards to reinforce desirable behaviors. Dogs are individuals, therefore I work at each dog's pace and base rewards on their preferences. I am fluent in dog body language and respect the dog's communication. I believe in setting dogs up for success, creating a fulfilled life for each unique dog, and earning dogs' trust. I passionately seek continued education in the canine field.

Diane is certified in Pet First Aid and Pet CPR and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed

Larissa | Wellness Specialist

I have been working for Beyond the Walk since November 2018. I have hands on experience with dogs and many other pets. Canines are the foundation of my life, both professionally and in my personal life. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and being outside with my family and pups, training my dogs as a hobby, and making each day the best it can be!

Sydney | Wellness Specialist

I've loved dogs and animals since I was very young; grew up with them my entire life. I started out with volunteering at local animal shelters, a wildlife sanctuary along with pet sitting for family and friends. I've worked for a pet sitting company alone with a few different dog kennels. I have never not been around dogs, whether it was spending a week pet sitting, being at the shelter or kennel, or just being with my own dogs. Working with and caring for dogs has always been my greatest passion in life.

How We Train

We use food and toy rewards to train dogs and praise and clickers to facilitate learning. Behavior that is rewarded will repeat in the future leading to a dog that is eager to learn and a willing participant in the behaviors you like! Adding training to your dog's stay can teach your dog foundations for new skills or improve upon skills they've learned in the past.

Beyond the Walk’s training is reward-based and sets dogs up for success at their pace. We will never use prong, choke, or shock (electronic) collars, fear, or intimidation to train your dog. We are passionate about continuing our education in the most up to date, effective methods in the positive reinforcement training and husbandry fields. We help owners develop training solutions that fit their lifestyles and goals. We are creative in our approach, split behaviors down to a level your dog can learn and grow from, and base training on progress and achievement. Diane is excited to help you and your dog excel!

Diane's own dogs have achieved and surpassed so many goals, especially being "rescue" dogs and having multiple facets to overcome before said achievements. Regardless of your dog’s origin, whether from a rescue or a breeder, we are happy to discuss your training goals. Diane’s dogs have earned titles in AKC Trick Dog, Canine Good Citizen, and Therapy Dog. To explore Diane's dogs' click the group picture!

Every trick is not for every dog. We cannot guarantee your dog will learn a skill/trick as obstacles may arise relating to past history, physical ability, and your dog's personal preferences. We will advise if we feel your dog should not be taught a trick/skill or provide advice on how you can reach your training goals. Repeat training sessions may be required for desired results. Results are not guaranteed - we train at your dog's pace. Training/behavior is a product of a dog’s environment and reinforcement history - a dog's skills rely on maintenance and support from their owner. You will be provided resources after each session to maintain and continue your dog's progress at home.
